Foundation History
In 2004 after my mother succumbed to breast cancer, God placed the urgency in my spirit to establish a family foundation. This foundation was to honor the memory of my mother and also commemorate those family members who journeyed from Tampa, Florida to California by awarding college scholarships in their names to under represented high school students who have achieved academic excellence. These scholarships will be allotted in the areas of: Biological Sciences, Engineering, Journalism, Culinary Arts, Nursing and Music. In addition, two other scholarships were implemented with in this group, one in my oldest brothers’ name and my oldest nieces’ name in the areas of Special Education and Criminal Justice. I’m so honored to have been able to accomplish this goal in establishing this foundation; each of the 8 family members have played a significant role in the “woman” that I have become today. After 9 years of praying and waiting for direction from God, we are proud to present to the Bay Area community, The Webb Family Seed Foundation.
In 2013, the Webb Family Seed Foundation was established, we operate as a multi-faceted community service; our goal is to provide personal support and strive to make life little more comfortable for those who have been impacted by health disparities, educational barriers, and the lack of resources to operate on a daily bases. Over a 5 years span, we promise to put all our efforts into establishing and providing practical programs, resource materials for information/making pertinent personal decisions, peer counseling and other necessities in the primary areas of: Breast/Prostate Cancer, Diabetes, Lupus, Alzheimer’s/Dementia, Education, Heart Disease, Sickle Cell, Community Resources (meal programs) and Blood Pressure/Cholesterol. As time progress we will also move into other areas where our services are needed such as other forms of Cancer and HIV/AIDS.
The Webb Family Seed Foundation serves and provides outreach to communities throughout the Bay Area from all backgrounds, socioeconomical statuses and ethnicities. As the late and great, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” We promise not to remain silent but to roll up our sleeves to assist our community and the people who we share that community with everyday.
